General Levy & PSB Family

After more than 20 years of stage experience, General Levy is coming back with “We progressive”, his new album soon to be released, which he himself called « the best album of my carrier ».

General Levy, veteran of the UK music scene, grew up with reggae and black music influences. Promptly did he decide to take a stab at writing and then went on singing. He managed to develop his own musical universe, inspired by the Fast Style culture.

At the age of 19, he had already gained an international recognition and been awarded several prizes such as the best reggae album, the best single for “Heat” and the best UK MC. Later, his worldwide success song « Incredible » reached the top ten in reggae charts. Plus, it has been synchronized in different movies as « Ali G Indahouse » and « Seuls Two ».

From the Garance Reggae Festival to the Summerjam, from the Chiemsee to the Realbeat Reggae Fest, they all have been conquered by his awesome live performances. Not to mention his studio collaborations with artists such as Capleton, Sly&Robbie, Chaka Demus, Desmond Dekker, Aswad, M Beat, Cutty Ranks or Danakil..

General Levy composed his new album ‘We Progressive’ in a specific way. For the first time, he surrounded himself with numerous musicians in order to create an eclectic and accomplished work. He decided to collaborate with Papa Style & Baldas, a French genius instrumentalists’ duo. To these two riddim makers was added the Dj and producer Goloom, in charge for the artistic production. At last, he decided to work with Mayra, a young Brazilian singer from the duo Mayra&Mr.Mow, who brings her soft touch to the chorus.

Through this new piece of work, this unusual artist provides us with his vocal fluency and compositions as various as conceptual.

‘We progressive” travels between reggae and different influences: Funk and Hip-Hop in “Blow” and “The love we got”, a subtle mix of rock and ragga in “Flipping and Flapping” and also Latino tunes with the song “Bomba Rumba”. But General Levy doesn’t forget his roots and delights us with the wonderful acoustic song “Friend in need”.

The French actors’, artists’ and producers’ involvement shows the vivacity of the French scene and its worldwide touch. That’s the reason why General Levy had chosen to collaborate with the French label music X-Ray Production. Let’s not forget the featuring with Balik, the magnetic singer from Danakil, and also with Big Reg, Daddy Mory’s sidekick into Raggasonic!
